How We Got Here

Our Story

DIRECTPAY was founded in 1997 with a clear and compelling mission.

At the time, coaches, speakers, trainers, and consultants - people dedicated to transforming lives- were struggling with something surprisingly fundamental: getting approved to accept credit cards. Traditional banks didn’t understand their business models. They saw them as high-risk, unpredictable, and difficult to categorize. And too often, they said no.

But where others saw uncertainty, our founder, James Komosinski, saw potential.

He believed deeply in the power of coaching and personal development to change lives, businesses, and communities. And he knew these entrepreneurs deserved more than outdated systems and limited access - they deserved advocates.

So he set out to build something different.

By developing strong, strategic relationships with banks, James created a pathway for service-based businesses to get approved for secure, custom-built merchant accounts -solutions designed specifically for the way they operate, grow, and serve.

What started as a solution quickly became a movement.

Over the years, DIRECTPAY has partnered with leading organizations like the International Coaching Federation and the National Speakers Association, while supporting some of the most recognized names in personal and professional development. Along the way, we’ve become the trusted payment processor for thousands of business owners who are building impactful, purpose-driven brands.

But for us, it has never been just about processing payments.
